第一個慣用語是"According to ",意思是根據或是按照。

This is the best restaurant according to Mary.
據Mary所說, 這是最好的餐廳。
Everything goes according to the plan.
每件事都有按計畫進行。

"In accordance with" 意思是依據或是符合。

We conducted the drill in accordance with the guidelines.
我們依據規範指南進行了這個演習。
You safety gear needs to be in accordance with safety regulations.
你的安全裝備需府合安全規定。

Beat someone at his/her own game, 是超越對方專長的領域的意思。

Joe is great at tennis, but I'm going to beat him at his own game.
Joe網球很棒, 但我將會在網球這個領域擊敗他。

She is so competitive that she always tries to beat her opponents at their own games.
她好勝心強到總是試著在她對手強項的領域裡超越他們。

Thumb your nose at someone, 是蔑視人的意思。

Dont' thumb your nose at people that you don't know.

"Give someone the cold shoulder" , 是不理會人的意思。

Bite the bullet, 是硬著頭皮做不喜悅或是困難的事的意思。

State of the art 是最先進的意思。

The laboratory employs the state-of-the-art machinery.
這個實驗室採用了最先進的機械裝置。 (這裡 state of the art 為何字之間要連接符號呢? 因為state-of-the-art 是用來形容另一個名詞machinery。 所以我們如果說:
